Consumer Websites Sometimes Off

With the proliferation of consumer websites that provide trade-in and retail car values, consumers are armed with more information than ever before when they go to purchase a new or used vehicle. On the whole, the proliferation of information is a good thing, but sometimes a little knowledge doesn’t show the whole truth. One good example is the trade-in value of a vehicle, which can vary greatly depending on the dealership, geographic location, type of car and vehicle condition. Consumer websites are good for providing a starting point for your vehicle’s value, but prepare yourself for a shock if you rely on that information too heavily. The used vehicle managers at Chapman Hyundai are expert at determining an accurate trade-in value that makes sense for both you and the dealership.

Your Car is Probably not ‘Excellent’

Of course you love your car. It’s taken you to ball games and on dates and to a bunch of other fun things that have created lasting memories in your life. Unfortunately, sentiment is the one thing that doesn’t really enter into determining a trade-in value. When you go online to determine your car’s worth, you’ll be asked to rate its condition. Very few cars are actually in “excellent” condition at the time of trade-in. Most have dings and scratches and a somewhat worn interior. To determine an actual trade-in value, you are probably better off clicking on the “fair” option.

Payoff Doesn’t Equal Value

Depending on how long you’ve had your car, how much money you put down when you bought it and what your interest rate is, there’s a good possibility that you may owe more than the car is worth at the time of trade-in. Dealerships are under no obligation to give you what you owe on the car, although if they do make a deal they are required to pay your old vehicle off. Dealers can sometimes add the amount you are upside down into the new car loan, or you may be able to put some additional money down to make up the difference.

Many Variables Affect Trade-in

The appraiser at a dealership like Chapman Hyundai is entrusted to provide a trade-in number that you will accept while still making money for the company. Along with condition, mileage and popularity, other factors that influence the trade-in value are the saturation of your vehicle on the dealership lot and in the marketplace. If you are trading in a Hyundai Santa Fe and the market is full of similar vehicles, expect to get a lower value than if you were trading something in more rare. It’s important to keep an open mind when negotiating a trade-in value and see the big picture from the dealer’s point of view.

Given that the Hyundai Tucson was one of the oldest vehicles in the brand’s fleet, it was only a matter of time before a redesign makeover for the compact was due.

While the last-generation Tucson represented Hyundai’s early “fluidic sculpture” design concept, this new version shares the sharper, more aggressive lines of last year’s Intrado model. The front and center hexagonal grille is visually striking, while the large headlights extend into the front fenders.

Enough focus went to the cabin, although admittedly, it must be said the last Tucson’s interior aged very well. The Geneva show car exhibits gorgeous red leather seats that contrast remarkably with the black dash and silver accents. The cabin layout is not too far off the latest Sonata – clean, logical and easy to navigate your way through without much complication.

Those at the Geneva show were dazzled by the 2016 Hyundai Tucson’s bold and athletic exterior with a striking, innovative appearance. As is rather prevalent in today’s modern vehicles, the Tucson’s interior blends style and elegance with ergonomics and ample cabin space. Convenience and connectivity features customized to the driver’s requirements include New Navigation with TomTom Live services and a rather remarkable seven-year free subscription package.

“The All-New Tucson is a bold new car that represents another leap forward for Hyundai,” asserted Tony Whitehorn, President & CEO, Hyundai Motor UK. “With a fantastic design and advanced technologies, it makes a strong statement about where the Hyundai brand is heading and provides a highly competitive vehicle in the important C-SUV segment.”

Car buffs will recognize that these trends are a result of the success of SUV sales among dealerships. Even Chapman Hyundai is looking forward to further advancement of compact SUV-like models from Hyundai, along with the upcoming 2016 Tucson.

“Design expresses our progressive spirit and passion, and it is transforming our brand. The All-New Tucson has a bold and athletic presence achieved through refined, flowing surfaces, bold proportions, sharp lines and most importantly, our newest generation hexagonal grille – our brand signature,” claimed Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer at Hyundai Motor Group.

Although the All-New Tucson features an SUV profile and strong proportions, the design team were inspired to deliver a sleek and agile appearance.

The front view of the All-New Tucson is symbolized by pure domination of its signature Hyundai hexagonal front grille connecting with the LED headlamps creating a unique façade. The front bumper delivers a wing-shaped appearance, which nicely accentuates the LED daytime running lights, gifting the classy vehicle a unique touch of elegance style whereby providing a powerful visual reference to its wide track.

One of the most exciting times of the year for Chapman Hyundai is getting to hear the new vehicle highlights on designs and technology. The first few months of the year are huge for car shows to highlight all the changes and upgrades on new vehicles. This year is no different!

Recently, Hyundai shared its latest technology advancements and upgrades to designs at the Chicago Auto Show. Hyundai is doing an impressive job at keeping up with all the advancements in technology, which is sure to impress their drivers. With the new Blue Link Smartwatch app, Hyundai drivers have the ability to utilize remote start and service information features that can be accessed through devices such as smartphones or smartwatches.

Santa Cruz Concept

They even introduced the new HCD-15 Santa Cruz Concept! The innovative Santa Cruz Crossover Truck Concept provides an entirely new outlook for a truck, which is sure to impress the newer generations of car buyers. This concept is perfect for those whose needs range from expandable utility during an active week. It provides a great transition from work-life professionalism to social interests. It is also a great option for those seeking a variety of outdoor pursuits.

Tucson Fuel Cell

They also unveiled the impressive Tucson Fuel Cell which provides zero-emissions! It has been available in Southern California since June 2014, where the first retail customer order took place. All eligible customers have the option to lease the Tucson Fuel Cell for only $499 per month! What’s even better is the fact that it includes unlimited free hydrogen refueling. As the first mass-produced fuel cell vehicle, its technology replaces the battery pack feature used in other electric vehicles. Instead, electricity is created from hydrogen by an electrochemical process that uses no moving parts within the fuel stack. What’s the point you may ask? Well, impressively- it gets rid of the limitations that a traditional electric vehicle may have.

Sema Vehicles

They also showed off various SEMA tuner vehicles that will be making their debut later this year. These vehicles are the result of a collaboration between talented artists in the automotive aftermarket world. Hyundai brought out a Blood Type Racing’s Genesis Coupe and the Toca Signature Edition Genesis. Both were built and designed by Chicagoland tuners.
