Fresh Veloster Design Offers Turbo Model

With a fresh design, enhanced powertrain and new infotainment system, the 2019 Hyundai Veloster and Veloster Turbo made a big impact at the recent North American International Auto Show in Detroit. “Our new 2019 Veloster represents an even more compelling offering for young and young-at-heart automotive enthusiasts with more expressive design, involving dynamics and cutting-edge infotainment features,” according to Mike O’Brien, Hyundai VP. “When combined with Hyundai’s outstanding value and efficiency, the new Veloster is sure to attract a progressive new group of enthusiastic buyers.” The new Veloster goes into production this March and will show up at Chapman Hyundai on Bell Road sometime this summer.

New Design Shows Athleticism

While the Hyundai designers kept the three-door configuration of the Veloster for easy access to the rear seat, many of the changes involved adjusting proportions to create a more muscular stance and focus on the dynamic driving ability of the little sports car. A stunning new grille design is flanked by available LED headlights and daytime running lights, providing greater visibility for the driver and anyone standing in your way. Hyundai moved the A-pillar and cowl point more to the rear, created a single powerful swoop between the hood and belt line. Choose the optional darkened roof and you get a high contrast look that adds to the sportiness. The new interior focuses on the driver, with contrasting colors clearly delineating the line between who’s in charge and who is just along for the ride. A unique selection of exterior and interior colors help you make your new Hyundai Veloster your own.

Choose Your Engine

The Veloster has a choice of two engines, depending on model. The standard 2.0L NU engine offers excellent efficiency and lower emissions, delivering 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. You can choose to mate that engine with the standard 6-speed manual or the 6-speed electronic automatic transmission that offers three different modes according to your driving preference. The Turbo model has a 1.6L turbocharged engine that kicks up to 201 horsepower and a fun 195 pound-feet of torque. An overboost function lets you kick that torque up by about 7 pound-feet for a little more oomph off the line.

Enjoy Your Infotainment System

The 2019 Hyundai Veloster will offer an advanced infotainment setup that allows connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to utilize a limited number of apps on your smartphone. An available eight-inch floating touchscreen display also includes navigation, traffic updates and a premium Infinity audio system to help you enjoy your favorite music. Keep in touch with Chapman Hyundai on Bell Road to see when the new Veloster will make its appearance this summer.
