Tucson Sales Continue to Set Records

Continued strong sales of the Hyundai Tucson compact SUV bode well for the automaker as it heads into the strong summer buying season. “In May, we continued our positive retail sales momentum on the core products in our lineup –Sonata, Elantra, Tucson and Santa Fe–which all saw increases compared to last year,” according to Hyundai VP of national sales, Derrick Hatami. The Tucson had the strongest showing of all, with sales up 44 percent from the previous year. The 10,600 vehicles sold was a record month for the Tucson. Come see why the new Tucson is so popular by taking a test drive at Chapman Hyundai on Bell Road.

Tucson Received Major Upgrades for 2017

One of the reasons for the increase in sales is Hyundai’s commitment to improving the Tucson, adding premium audio and connectivity along with interior detail and the use of upgraded materials. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are both available on the Limited trim package, while improved rear air conditioning vents make sitting in the back much more comfortable on the Eco and Sport models. Upgraded door panels and stain-resistant fabric also add to the desirability of the new Tucson.

Hyundai Offers New Powertrains

The 2017 Hyundai Tucson comes with a choice of powertrains that deliver both performance and efficiency. Choose a base model and you’ll get the 2.0L fuel-injected Nu engine that delivers 164 horsepower. When teamed up with a six-speed SHIFTRONIC transmission it delivers 30 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg in combined driving. Choose the upgraded Eco, Sport or Limited Tucson and you’ll get a 1.6L turbocharged engine that delivers 175 horses and almost 200 pound-feet of torque. The Eco model gets an outstanding 32 mpg on the highway, while the Sport and Limited trim packages are rated at 30 mpg on the open road.

Special Attention to Sound Deadening

The Hyundai engineers sharpened their pencils and put a lot of thought to eliminating road noise in the 2017 Tucson. Some of the sound deadening measures include larger engine mounts to reduce vibrations, a bushing mount design on the rear cross members, increased sound insulation on inner fenders, instrument panel, transmission tunnel and the underbody and increased usage of structural adhesive to serve as a buffer against road noise.

Attractive Design Turns Heads

The 2017 Hyundai Tucson has an attractive elongated design that is not only sporty, but allows for more interior room. The sporty design is accentuated by sculpted sides and forward sloping wheel arches. See the beauty and experience the joy of driving a new Tucson when you visit Chapman Hyundai on Bell Road.
